Emergency crews responded to a fatal plane crash yesterday... it happened shortly after the plane took off from colfax county angel fire airport... it happened at about 1-24 in the afternoon on Sunday. officials say there were no survivors of the crash. The national transportation safety board is handling the accident... and the FAA will help in the investigation. There were strong wind gusts at the time of the takeoff... but officials say it's too early to know exactly what led to the crash. The plane was registered out of texas.e

The state's education chief goes for a confirmation hearing today... the state senate rules committee has put off hanna skandera's confirmation for two years... but they're planning to do that hearing today. The hearing could determine whether she will hold on to her job - or lose it.

The new mexico house has approved a resolution that would let the state tap into the permanent fund. The proposed constitutional amendment would let voters decide whether to prevent a drop in the yearly allocation from the 11-billion-dollar land grant permanent fund...the proposal keeps the yearly distribution rate at 5-and-a-half-percent of the fund's average five-year market value rather than letting it drop to 5-percent starting in july of 2016. public schools and 20 other public institutions would get 550-million-dollars next year. The measure passed the house on a 36 to 33 vote on thursday and now goes to the state senate.
