Wednesday (July 27) District Court Judge Sarah Backus has signed the declaratory judgment for the Town of Taos in its lawsuit with the Cristobal de la Serna Land Grant representatives, effectively voiding the land grant documents they filed, and removing the clouded title issues that have plagued property owners over the last several months.

Property owners and the connected industries of construction, real estate and lending may now again secure title insurance for their property transactions including loans, refinancing, and sales.

"The Town of Taos is proud to have taken the lead role to support area property owners and businesses in bringing closure to this issue that has had a chilling effect on our already challenged economy," said Town of Taos Mayor Darren Cordova.
