A resident of Las Haciendas came before Town of Taos Mayor Darren Cordova and Council Tuesday and asked that the annexation of the little neighborhood be put on the agenda and be considered soon.

Completely surrounded by Town of Taos, Las Haciendas neighborhood is on Cruz Alta across from the Vista de Taos subdivision.

According to Tapia, annexation is long overdue.

Tapia points out that even though the neighborhood has its own water system, it has about 44 septic tanks and he says there are leech fields all over the place and pretty soon, it’s going to be a health hazard.

Tapia said not all of his neighbors are in favor of annexation but he feels it is the right thing to do, and Mayor Cordova and all council members present at Tuesday’s meeting agreed.
