The Taos town council is getting set for a regular meeting coming up tomorrow... it's set for 6-30 p-m at town council chambers at 120 civic plaza drive. There are two public hearings on the agenda: one is for consideration and possible approval of an ordinance for the annexation of town-owned properties located on the south side of new mexico 64, including the taos regional airport, totaling 820 acres... the other public hearing is for a liquor license for a steak house. Other items on the agenda include a lease agreement between the town of taos and kit carson electric for property located at 1146 Gusdorf road... the consideration and possible approval of an additional lieutenant position within the existing police department staffing levels... and an appointment of a youth council member.
The town of taos recently decided to increase fees for copies of public records... it's now up to a dollar, from 15 cents. The increased rate applies after the first three pages. The goal is to have the charges better-reflect the costs to the town, like supplies and staff time. The fees will only affect about 12-percent of people who request records from the town because most of the requests require fewer than three pages. 1-dollar is the maximum allowed under state law.
