New Graffiti Program Coming

Volunteers have been working to clean up the town of taos through a new graffiti abatement program... it's expected to happen monthly, with workers targeting areas that are most often hit by vandals. Local inmates will be able to volunteer with the program, as well.

Town Council Meeting Tomorrow Night

The Taos Town Council has a regular meeting set for tomorrow night... the meeting is at 630 p-m at the town council chambers at 120 civic plaza drive. Among the items on the agenda... there's a public hearing on sign code modifications. The group will consider a resolution supporting mayor darren cordova's membership in mayors against illegal guns, endorsing efforts of the organization, and supporting the president's effort to develop a comprehensive approach to reducing gun crime. The council also will get an update on the relocation of central communications to the regional command center at 1146 gusdorf road... and there will be an overview of the taos police department.

Town Looking For New Convention Center Uses

The town of Taos is looking for new ways to use the convention facilities on civic plaza drive... and the town will issue a request for proposals for how to utilize the space. Applicants will be asked to keep in mind - events that are planned at the convention center already. The town currently has four leases in the convention center... three of those expire in 2015.

County and Town Considering Merging Planning Efforts

The county and town are considering merging their planning efforts. the agreement would have current deputy taos manager richard bellis as the joint town/county planner. this has been a topic of discussion for a while... and officials have said that joining the planning departments would enhance cooperation between the governments, and save money. The town was coming up with the contract for services.

Interim Planner Steps Down

the interim planning director for the Town of Taos is stepping down. Matthew Foster has taken a job as the executive director of taos pueblo housing. He's been the town's long-range planner.

Special meeting April 4th

Taos leaders have a special meeting set for April fourth... the meeting is at 9am that day in the town hall executive conference room at 400 camino de la placita. the meeting is to consider a winegrower off-site license with on-premise consumption and package sales - for black mesa winery.
