Governor Martinez is pushing for exemptions on military pensions... she's urging new mexico lawmakers to pass legislation that'll provide a 25-percent exemption on military pensions starting in 2014, phasing in a 100-percent exemption by 2017. Military retirees currently living in new mexico are fully taxed on their pension income. she says retirees who start second careers or businesses using skills they received in the military often skip new mexico when they return to civilian life. A similar proposal last year did not make it out of the legislature.
