The state House will have another opportunity to pass a bill to stop driver's licenses for illegal immigrants after the judiciary committee approved the measure. The House adopted similar legislation last year to halt the current licensing system for illegal immigrants, but it did not get passed in the Senate. Governor Martinez is backing the proposal saying there's widespread fraud in the current license system. Supporters of the current law say illegal immigrants in New Mexico need licenses for jobs and school.
