The new boundaries for the House of Representatives drawn up by judge Hall is being appealed. Lawyers for the Legislature and a group of Democrats and minority voters have filed separate appeals with the state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Some Democrats contend the revised districts will help Republicans pick up seats in the House The state House passes a measure providing $5 million for expenses of the Legislature's 30-day session. It now goes to the Senate for consideration.
