The new mexico department of health made the recommendation on monday... 874 whooping cough cases were reported to health officials in the state last year... that's three times the number of cases that were reported in 2011. The goal of the vaccine for pregnant women is to prevent the spread of the disease to children who are vulnerable to whooping cough.
