Overall violent crime in new mexico dropped in 2011. The annual FBI uniform crime report was released monday... it showed that law enforcement agencies in new mexico reported a total of about 11,817 violent crimes last year... in 2010, agencies reported 12,126 violent crimes... that's a drop of about 3-percent. But... the state did see an increase in the number of reported murders, and overall property crimes. Last year, new mexico agencies reported 156 murders... which was up from the 142 reported in 2010. Overall property crime reports were up four-percent.
