Crews fighting the midnight fire in the carson national forest have had a tough time engaging the fire because of high winds, the broken steep terrain, and the amount of hazardous beetle-killed trees. At last check the fire was at 429 acres. No structures are threatened... and the fire hasn't been growing much as of late. The mccrystal and cimarron campgrounds in valle vidal have been voluntarily evacuated as a precautionary measure. A community meeting is set for red river tonight... it's an open house for the community house from 4 to 6 p-m... A presentation will be included on the progression of the fire and a discussion on the current full fire suppression, confine and control strategy.
