The state's public regulation commission is considering a plan to clean up emissions from the San Juan Generating Station. The generating station generates the bulk of electricity for 2-million customers of the public service company of new mexico, plus multiple other partners. But the coal-fired plant - near Farmington - is blamed for a dark haze... and several commissioners said part of why they oppose the resolution on a plan to clean up emissions - is because it didn't considering other options for reducing that haze. The environmental protection agency has ordered PNM and its partners to reduce the emissions that create the haze... and there's a debate over the technology to be used... because of the possible cost to taxpayers.
