The murder trial of Christopher Barney of Taos is set for May 7th. Barney is accused of stabbing his one-year-old baby boy to death in May of 2010 after getting into a fight with his girlfriend that sent her to the hospital. He then tried to kill himself. There is another pretrial hearing coming up in February or March to determine whether Barney was competent when he made a statement to police.......he was allegedly under the influence of anesthesia at the time.
