Some prescribed burns will be happening in the Carson National Forest beginning next Monday. The burns will have minimal impact on roads, but smoke will be visible on Carracas Mesa, Navajo Lake area and Colorado. And speaking of fire, the annual report has come in assessing the damage from last year's fire season. State Forestry officials say more than 1,000 fires burned more than 967,000 acres in New Mexico. More than 80% of those on state and private land were caused by people. With forecasts calling for more dry weather heading into the spring, fire officials say they are already trying to get the message out about fire prevention.
