As the new year is here Taos is mourning the loss of attorney Julian Varela who was killed in an accident Friday. The 49-year-old former probate judge was it by a pick up while crossing the road near Applebee's. The driver of the truck that hit Varela is reportedly a17-year-old who has not been charged in the accident and is cooperating with police.
