Triple-A says 2012 was the highest year on record - for gas prices..Triple-A says the national average price for the year was 3-60 a gallon... the previous record had been set in 2011 - that was 3-51 a gallon. We remember 2008 as being a year that gas prices reached 4-bucks a gallon... but in 2008, the average was only 3-25 a gallon. Newmexicogasprices.com says we're starting off 2013 with a state-wide average of 2-96 a gallon... that's just a couple of pennies higher than we were at this time last year... but it is down about 27 cents in the last month. A triple-a spokesman says motorists paid more money for gas in 2012 in part because of major hurricanes, refinery outgages, and tension in the middle east.
