The U-S Mint is trying to find ways to make it cheaper to make coins. Right now at some times, a penny costs more than two cents to make... and it costs more than a dime to make a nickel. The U-S mint is planning to do more tests in the coming months, looking at new metals … the acting director of the u-s mint says the challenge - is figuring out how to make coins more cheaply without sparing quality or durability, or altering the coin's size and appearance.
